Vandalism

July 5, 2022 (Bloomfield Avenue): A New Jersey Transit bus operator reported that a man approached the bus and deliberately pushed against the door, shattering it. The suspect fled west on Bloomfield Avenue.

Disturbance

July 5, 2022 (Maple Avenue): The Complainant reported that a group of young people entered Catching Owens’ community suite during “game night” and began throwing firecrackers inside the building. The floor and walls reportedly suffered what was described as only “moderate damage”. The suspects were described as six minors, including two women, wearing masks. They were last seen fleeing south on Maple Avenue.

Motor vehicle crime

July 6, 2022 (Harrison Avenue): The resident reported that while letting his dogs out of his home, he saw an unknown man attempting to enter his black Range Rover. After seeing the resident, the suspect retired to a waiting white Honda Accord and fled north on Harrison Avenue. The suspect was described as a male, 18 to 21 years old, 6’00 inches tall, of slim build, wearing a yellow hoodie, dark colored jacket, black pants and a ski mask.

July 7, 2022 (Lewis Court): The resident reported that his 2021 Ford Explorer was entered overnight. The vehicle was searched and a small amount of cash was stolen.

July 7, 2022 (Highland Avenue): Complainant reported that her unlocked Audi was entered while parked on the street. Currently missing is a black “See By Chloe” shoulder bag, an Argentine passport, a red iPhone, white iPhone headphones, $85.00 cash and a set of keys.

July 10, 2022 (Valley Road): At 2:34 a.m. patrol units were dispatched to the 700 block of Valley Road following a report of two individuals attempting to enter vehicles. Officers located two young men from Newark walking through the area who matched the description provided by the caller. They were taken to police headquarters and handed over to a guard.
