the Observatory of Argentinians for Education revealed a report with worrying data on schooling: only 16% of students who start primary school reach the end of secondary school on schedule with sufficient knowledge of language and mathematics.

In seven provinces, the situation is worse, since less than 10% complete their secondary education within the stipulated time: San Juan (8%), Catamarca (7%), Corrientes (7%), Misiones (6%), Chaco ( 5%), Formosa (5%) and Santiago del Estero (5%).

Another alarming fact is that at the country level, only 53% of students finish high school on time. The percentage is higher in some provinces, such as Tierra del Fuego (71%), Ciudad de Buenos Aires (66%) and La Rioja (61%), while at the other extreme are the provinces of San Juan ( 38%). , Corrientes (38%) and Misiones (39%).

The study also shows that from ninth grade (second year of secondary school in the federal capital and third year for several provinces), begins the gradual abandonment of school.

It is a system in crisis due to the conflict between two social mandates: the traditional one, which understands college as a selection process for university, and the current one, which claims that everyone has a level of training that allows them to function in life

The data, which was presented in the report “Unequal Learning and Unequal Learning: Two Sides of the Same Coin” came from the analysis of the group of boys who started first grade in 2009 and reached the last year of high school in 2020, using data from the 2019 annual survey and learning tests.
