Zabaleta participated in soccer-based water education games, engaged in a question-and-answer session with young leaders and children, and learned about the community, the challenges faced and the work of this unique program to help meet them.

Reflecting on his experience, Zabaleta said: “It is a privilege to meet young leaders who are dedicated to supporting their communities and who are so inspiring to see first hand how football is being used to improve the lives of young people in my hometown.”

The project he visited stems from Man City’s water-inspired PUMA away kit this season, which celebrates football as a force for good.

Produced with a special Dope Dye manufacturing process to reduce water consumption, the kit pays tribute to a unique partnership between PUMA, Cityzens Giving and Xylem, supporting a global network of soccer and clean water programs, aiming to achieve 10,000 children on three continents.

This innovative global program combines football-based education on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) with Xylem water technology to provide access to clean water to communities in need.

In Buenos Aires, young leaders from Cityzens Giving partners, Love Fútbol and Revolución Pelota, organize regular football sessions in three communities – La Cava in San Isidro, Barrio Santa Rita and El Pozo – engaging more than 500 young people to offer them a safe space to play and educate them about water pollution, water conservation and WASH.

To complement youth-led community football sessions, Xylem, Fundación Avina and local partners conducted a diagnostic study of their water supply and identified unsanitary quality and access to proper sanitation facilities. critical problems at the community center of Revolución Pelota.

To solve this problem, Fundación Avina and its local partner Sumando installed new water filters to improve the center’s drinking water supply and hired local volunteer employees from Xylem and PUMA to lead workshops with young people and adults. community to help them understand the root causes of water pollution and learn how to properly test their water source. Volunteers also helped install handwashing stations made from recycled plastic and provide football-based education on the importance of safe handwashing practices in disease prevention.

“As a young leader, the most important thing is the bond we create with the children,” says Nara, one of La Cava’s young leaders. “We teach them the importance of hygiene and hand washing, through football. Being with Zabaleta has been a great moment! He is a role model for us and learning from his experiences gives us confidence and motivation to continue !”

“Solving water is more than technology; it’s a real team effort and creative problem solving,” said Joseph Vesey, Chief Marketing Officer, Xylem. “By combining educational programs and the power of football, we aim to inspire the next generation of water leaders and make meaningful progress in solving the greatest challenges of our time. Our work with Manchester City Football Club and PUMA is so important to this mission, and we are proud that club ambassador Pablo Zabaleta is helping us achieve this goal.

Gary Dixon, Head of Teamsport Marketing Business Unit at PUMA, said: “Dope Dye’s manufacturing process has significantly reduced the amount of water and dye used in the production of this kit, compared to traditional methods. dyeing materials. We wanted to go beyond the design of the kits, beyond the technology, to have a real impact on people’s lives. We are very proud of this unique collaboration with Cityzens Giving and Xylem, and the positive impact we have been able to have together in Buenos Aires to help solve water issues in the local community.

During his visit to Argentina, Pablo Zabaleta and the Premier League trophy also visited the local PUMA store to meet Manchester City fans and were able to visit the premises of Xylem Argentina.

The Manchester City Away Kit is available at PUMA.com, PUMA Stores, Etihad Stadium Store, mancity.com/shop and select retailers worldwide.
