The United States suffered a disappointing loss to Argentina at the Athens Games in 2004, which is why the American team sought revenge. After remaining unbeaten until the semifinals, Kobe and co. against an Argentine team led by Luis Scola. The South American team were hoping to give the United States a back-to-back loss in the Olympic semi-finals, however, Kobe Bryant had different plans.

Throughout the match, the two teams went back and forth. And in terms of chatter, Kobe and Scola got down to it in the first trimester itself. Bryant, who had learned Spanish because of his wife Vanessa, decided to speak trash in Luis’ mother tongue. While Chris Bosh went to the charity strip almost halfway through the first quarter, Bean laughed at the big man:

“(In Spanish) I like Scola, that’s how I like him,” Bryant mocked Luis.

“Speak in English, you do that better”, replied Scola.

“I’ll show you what language I speak… I’ll make sure you understand this,” Kobe replied.

As things were too cheerful between the two, LeBron decided to join us and calm the Lakers superstar down. LBJ said:

“I got it (Luis Scola), I got it. This is Kobe. That’s it.”

And Kobe decided to respond in the classic Kobe way. The next play, Bryant managed to lock down an Argentinian in defense, forcing a turnover, and ended the play with an emphatic dunk. Bryant had the last laugh by dropping 12 points in a huge 101-81 semi-final victory over the Argentines. And finally bring the gold medal back to his country, after beating Spain in the final.
