Oh, Christina Aguilera, we missed you.
The Grammy-winning pop star has released a new single, “Pa ‘Mis Muchachas,” a sultry Spanish-language collaboration starring Mexican-American singer Becky G and Argentine artists Nicki Nicole and Nathy Peluso. Aguilera has been teasing her comeback single for weeks now on social media, revealing to fans that a full Spanish album is on the way – her first in over 20 years, since the 2000s Mi Reflejo.
The music video that accompanies the song is a four-minute production that features red-haired Aguilera, posing alongside the Doberman twins and (of course) heading for the dance floor. Becky G, Nicole and Peluso all appear for their respective guest verses. Aguilera’s signature voice shines over the infectious guaracha-style beat, a fast-paced genre that hails from Cuba. Frankly, it’s the best sound she’s had in years.
The new song is a “tribute to women,” said Aguilera Billboard. “We wanted to make sure it was a representation of the Latin women who are the strength of a family, the backbone,” said the singer. “In the song we mention that I am a strong woman because I was raised by a woman who was strong and she was too strong before that. It is something that is passed from generation to generation. chose Nathy, Becky and Nicki because of the strength they exude. “
Aguilera has said she has wanted to release more Spanish music for years, and now, at 40, she finally feels confident enough to do so.
“This is a project that I have wanted to follow for so long, but I am so happy that it is happening now as a grown woman,” she added. “Having been a mother, having lived my career, I bring a different point of view and a different set of passions. Now it comes from a deeper perspective and I want to explore.… I’m still learning too and I’m not going to go back. because of something that really excites me because I’m scared or scared of what people are going to think. It’s me who is on my own life path. could cry about it. It means a lot to me. “
