As life slowly returns to ‘normal’, what better way to celebrate than an evening of fine wine and food, auction items, wonderful music and dancing. These were the trappings of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s Cork and Canvas held April 28 at the Calgary Petroleum Club.

The signature event, started by Tibor and Livia Fekete 25 years ago, continued its winning streak and this year’s gala was a sold-out affair with 250 guests. Highlights included: a five-course gourmet meal paired with fine wines provided by Zorzal Vineyards and Winery; Argentine-inspired dance performances by Leo and Yuki Sato of Tango Calgary; solo piano performances by Janina Fialkowska; and the skill of auctioneer John Copithorne in raking in top dollars for live auction items.
